Baptism Service

Baptism is a Christian ordinance that our Lord Jesus commissioned to be done (Matthew 28:19) and has been observed by believers since then. Being baptized is a blessing in the life of the believer - the person who has been united to Christ in faith. It is a means of grace in our life, in which we are publicly proclaiming to fellow believers and the world our identity in Christ and attachment to his life and death and to his body.

The administration of baptism is to be with immersion (although, other God loving saints choose other modes - albeit wrong). Baptism is done with immersion because this is the Biblical model we are given (Matthew 3:16; Mark 1:5; Acts 8:38-39). Secondly though, baptism is a picture of the good news - it is a visible representation of God's Word. When a professing believer goes underwater and then comes up out of it, they are symbolizing Christ's death and burial and then also his resurrection and our new life (Romans 6:1-10; Col 2:12). While Scripture does speak of our salvation in terms of being cleansed of our sin (Titus 3:5), being sprinkled (1 Peter 1:2) and having the Holy Spirit poured out on us (Joel 2:8-9; Titus 3:6), these aren't dealing directly with water baptism and so they aren't right ways of administrating this ordinance.

If you are trusting in Christ for your salvation but have yet to go forward in worship and obedience to God in baptism, please contact a pastor or any elder at First Family Church to discuss becoming a baptism candidate.

We will be having a baptism service on October 22nd and if you would like to be baptized then, please do contact us. For more information, contact Pastor Paul or any elder
